  8. Hi Jan, Paul, and the Gang,

greetings from the USA!!! How cool am I? Anna and David took me with them for the summer - we'll be here for almost three months so they thought it would be best to just bring me along. And of course that's true...We flew from Frankfurt in Germany to Boston, and they were much more nervous than me about it all. When they got me back in Boston they were so surprised how relaxed I was with this whole flying business! I had two cool Spaniels in the pet cabin with me who were frequent fliers so it wasn't all that bad, and the captain took a different route because of us to avoid any tubulence in the air.
I really did not mind much, and now we're having the BEST time. I can run around in the woods and fields, and we all go swimming every day, and I hardly ever have to stay home alone which is wonderful since I am such a Mama's boy...And we're doing our mantrailing/ search dog training here, too, and I am 'truly excellent' I am being told.

Plus, David and Anna are getting married in August and I am going to be the ring bearer! All very exciting. We'll send some pictures in due course...

Hope all well in Cornwall, much love from Wagner and the Napier Volkmanns ;-)

Perhaps see you in the autumn?

  10. Hi Jan,

I have enjoyed your site so much, and congratulations you have the most beautiful type Spinoni, I really hope I will be able to get one from you, it is always better to start off with good dogs, I learned that with my Airedales, I started off with a bitch from "Buxton Airedales" and the Buxton kennels had imported hers from the "Jokyl Airedales in the UK!

  19. Hi Jan,

Just a quick update now that Frodo is 16 months old. He's a true gentle giant and has been from the start. On first meeting him people are first amazed by his size and his wonderful looks...and then gobsmacked by how calm, loving and gentle he is! He is also so intuned to everything that goes on around him...just one example was back in November when my Dad sadly passed away. We held a gathering to celebrate Dad's life here at our house so the place was full to the rafters of people Frodo had never met before. It could so easily have been a nightmare with a 16mth old "massive" dog around - but he was amazing and just seemed to know it wasn't a "party"! Didn't stop him nabbing food off discarded plates when people weren't looking but hey...we wouldn't want him to be perfect! He's amazing Jan! Hope you and yours are all doing ok. Frodo says hi to his Mum and sisters!
    Best wishes,
    Nat
(p.s.... I think Frodo has more friends on his Facebook page than I do!)

  20. Hi everyone,

thanks for message, we had a great day, the pups really enjoyed themselves. Basil and Sorrel are once again fast asleep in front of the fire after having great fun in the woods and very muddy lake this morning!! They are fantastic companions and any success we have in the show ring is a bonus. Thank you so much for allowing us to have such fabulous pups, they give love, fun and pleasure every single day.

    Love from Vanessa and Martin

  23. Hi Jan and Paul Just a quick line to let you know Sylvester Spinone has grown into a softie like his wonderful father Ikon, he lives very happily with Willow the lovely Old English Sheepdog we brought home from the Rescue when we lost the last of our beautiful Goldies about three years ago. We had to get Vesta a friend because he missed his gorgeous best pal Red so much, he really did have a broken heart when he lost that Darling Gentle old fella, it was a good move adopting Willow for all concerned, but at times they are such a naughty pair it is like having a pair of toddlers ! we would'nt swap them for the world though. We do hope things are well with you both and all the fur people ! Have A Very Happy New Year. It is great to see the web site. All Best Wishes from Heather, Brian, Sylvester and Willow.

  26. Dear Jan
just to give you an update on Fergus, he is turning out to ber a good hunter he flushed out a pheasant yesterday ,he knew something was in the hedge and would not give up until he found it .he is much better behaved than Alfie was, the only naughty things he has done is to pinch food . he loved the tomatoes growing in the garden also flower pots with or without plants in them. We have just started our next training classnot going to well at the moment as he is more interested in the other dogs than what he is supposed to be doing !!! He is about an inch shorter than Alfie now and is paws are so much bigger so we think he might be a big boy . he is a great character and loves lots of cuddles and still gets up on Robins lap !!!
will send some more photos soon
    Lynette, Alfie and Fergus

  29. Hi Jan
Thanks for adding the news of Milo to your page. He is still MISSING and after 80 hours alone and frightened, I am starting to struggle with coming to terms with what has happened.
We have had tremendous support from Doglost.co.uk and the other agencies which are linked to them.
See the Doglost page 24294 for further info. We are planning a mass search party on Saturday so that may help.
    Thanks again.
Love to you Paul, Nic and all the gang.

  30. Hi Jan - thank you for making us so welcome when we came to visit you last week - sunny Cornwall certainly lived up to its name! Your spinoni are beautiful - can't believe how calm, happy and laid back they are - and Agnes is such an entertainer! Fenyl and the puppies are just gorgeous - really can't wait now to have one of our own. Please keep in touch and we'll let you know how our house hunting progresses!
PS Jon says to assure you that flying spit is OK with him!

  35. Hi Jan....here's a link to a little video Sam (our 10 year old) made today of Frodo and out on YouTube! He's not looking his absolute best...we'd had quite a walk and he'd been rummaging in the river...but he's still beautiful I'm sure you'll agree!

  36. Hi Sandra

Pleased to hear that you are enjoying the web site and delighted to hear that Tia gives you so much pleasure. Spinoni are just so captivating and endearing life would not be the same without them even allowing for the spit and mud!!!

  37. Did a double take when viewing your photos as I thought you had posted one of my 2 year old spinone Tia. Your Tia could be her sister. She is the best thing that has happened to me in years and I really enjoyed your web site. I just wish i had found it last year.

  39. So exciting...Frodo met Myska (?) - Mala's sister right here in Totnes! They had a fantastic time playing together while I chatted to Debbie. Although Frodo is great with all dogs I have never seen him playing quite so naturally and be quite so at ease with another dog he has just met. I really think they knew they were both Spinoni and they played as if they'd known each other for a long time. It was lovely to watch.

  40. Hi Jan,

Frodo is loving his puppy training/socialisation classes and he doesn't have a clue that he is about 3 times as big as his little friends! I know I'm biased but he really is the most well behaved puppy there...the others can't believe how "chilled out" he is! I end up feeling quite sorry for them as they chase their tiny Cocker Spaniels and Fox Terriors around the room! He enjoyed the recent snow we had and one of his favourite things is to walk up the high street so that everyone can admire and make a fuss of him!

    Hope you're all well,

    Nat

  45. How funny - Frodo has to speak to everyone too and he's mortally offended should anyone pass him by without stopping. He turns and looks at them as if to say "hello??" Luckily for him most people are so amazed by him that they stop to chat which he adores! Will check out the email and get back to you soon!

(Posted on 2009-12-14 22:17:00 by Nat, Ken and kids)
  46. Hi Nat and co....

Thanks for the news and glad Frodo is enjoying life so much!! Agnes had a busy weekend out socialising and slowing up my Christmas shopping as she has to speak to everyone .....................including a Jack Russel that tried to moderate her face... she got upset for a bout 10 secs and then marched on to say hello to the next set of shoppers. Dylan coming to visit tomorrow, he is Lyvya and Lynas's brother who we haven't seen for ages, so ooking forward to that. Some pics and vid of Agnes taken this weekend coming to you by email.

(Posted on 2009-12-14 21:02:00 by Jan)
  47. Hi Jan and gang,

Just to let you know all is still going well. We're waiting to get some good photos of Frodo on one of our walks before we email you again. Tried to take some at the weekend but the camera was playing up. Frodo just loves being out racing around with the kids! He's growing at an alarming rate but is looking more and more handsome every day! We're all agreed he has a look of Mala about him.

Hope all is well with you all and we'll email you soon when we can attach some pics.

  49. Hi Jan,
Thanks for the kind words about Tia (just catching up!). She is a sweetie and a pleasure to have on the table. Hope all is well with you and the gang.
Boys here are doing well and Cashmere isnt too bad, though a tad "wobbly" these days at twelve and a half! Napa has decided, now he is a veteran, that he has to take his time over things - he has become a proper ditherer!! Still shows the youngsters a clean pair of heels from time to time though, when he can be bothered!
Sick of rain and mud up here. Roll on Spring!!!
    Love Abby

He's an absolute star - will email you with an update (and more photo's I hope) at the weekend.
